Overview

The Cottage House Restaurant, nestled at 113 W Water St in Smethport, PA, offers a memorable dining experience that feels both welcoming and steeped in local charm. This establishment strikes a careful balance between hearty, classic American fare and a setting rich with character—its small museum element adds a unique layer to the visit, inviting guests to connect with the history of the region while enjoying their meal.

Among the standout dishes, the Smash Burger and Fries truly shine, embodying a perfect blend of juicy meat and crispy edges that appeal to burger aficionados. The chicken tenders, a popular starter, provide a satisfying, crispy option that pairs well with their range of sauces. These highlights underscore The Cottage House’s dedication to comfort food done right—simple yet thoughtful, with an emphasis on quality ingredients and flavor.

The menu thoughtfully expands beyond burgers and tenders to include diverse options like Buffalo Bleu Garlic Chicken and the Prime Rib Salad, catering to various tastes without overcomplicating the offerings. This restraint ensures each dish feels intentional and well-crafted rather than cluttered.

My wife and I loved this place has a small museum and we learned a lot of history about Smethport here. The service and food was wonderful. We had French onion soup, which was amazing also had pretzel sticks with beer cheese, and potato skins. I would recommend this to anybody even if you had to drive a half an hour or more to get there. It is a great place to visit and eat.

But even if it would have it would have been worth the wait!!! And our waitress was WONDERFUL. So a shout out to Madison(we asked her name before we left) she was the BEST! We will DEFINITELY be coming here a lot more. And the restaurant is spotless!!
